Chapter Nine - Scatach the Warrior

Scatach have heard the news, only after meeting Billy, at a small Parisian park.
Though it had been a long time since she fought beside Billy, she was fond of the your man, and his always-bright face. That is why she was very surprised to see his grim expression, when arriving at the park.
Billy got right to his point. “Nicholas is dead,” he told her with no hesitation.
Scatach looked around before believing him. She saw Sophie and Josh sitting on a brown bench, at the end of the park, and just five meters away from them, near a small stone water fountain, lay the dead alchemist.
Scatach opened her mouth, and closed it. She wasn’t going to grieve now. It wasn’t the time. But, she was unwilling to accept reality.
Nicholas, the closest figure of a father to her. Dead.
A wry smile twisted on Scatach’s face. Dee, she knew he did it. The smell of sulfur hung in the air of the park. But as soon as she thought of that, it suddenly became clear to her, that there might be a way to annoy the Magician even more.
“Why are you smiling?” Billy asked, confused by her reaction.
“All isn’t lost.” Scatach rubbed her hands together to get them warm. “We can still bring him back.”
Sophie and Josh, who were sitting in their corner with sad faces, jumped noisily from the bench, and hurried for Scatach.
“How?” Sophie asked, and her face lit with hope. Josh nodded too, agreeing with his sister.
“We need to find Marie Antoinette's watch,” Scatach announced dramaticly.
The twins’s faces were puzzled and confused, but Billy stared at Scatach with awe, and then grinned. “That, is a great idea! I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that earlier.”
“That’s because you didn’t consider it to be important.” Scatach’s glare moved to the twins, who were peering at each other, probably asking without words, what can a simple watch possibly do.
“Josh. Me and Billy will be going for the watch, listen to what your sister says, and stay safe.”
“What?” Josh opened his mouth is surprise. “You’re leaving us here? Alone?”
“Yes.” Scatach said. “It’s too dangerous for you to come with us... You’ll have to watch out for each other, while me and Billy find the watch, and bring it back here.”
“But why do we need that stupid watch? Can’t we just call a necromancer or something?” Josh asked.
Sophie frowned. “Josh. Necromancy completely erases the dead body’s memories, thoughts, and sometimes, it even wipes out it’s personality. The body will be revived into a blank person.”
Scatach nodded in agreement. “Sophie is right. Necromancy isn’t the answer here. The watch will do better.”
“What does the watch do, then?” Sophie leant forword, expecting for an answer. But Scatach waved her hand dismissively. “We don’t have time for this. I will tell you later. Right now, me and Billy will find out where the watch is, and get it back.”
“And you two,” added Billy, “stay out of trouble.”
Scatach caught Billy’s hand and pulled him away from the twins, leaving them to wonder of the conversation. She, of course, knew where the watch is, the whole time. She just didn’t trust the twins’s promise.
“So, where are we going?” Billy asked.
“We’re going to the Holy Land.” Scatach hurried up her pace, and Billy was staggering behind her to catch up.
She was ready to get some action, and stealing one of history’s greatest treasures, sounded like a lot of fun.
