I cannot promise you
a place on Saturn
or
the rainbow in a cup.

I cannot promise you
I'll find a potion
for the poison
running in the roots
of earth.

I cannot promise I'll look for one
in the north
nor in the south.

There is no golden baby
in this sack of tales
and lies.

But I'll still tell you–

I cannot promise you
anything but
today.
